“For customers who seek the ultimate in off-road prowess and on-road style, there’s nothing else like the H2,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. “It is in a class by itself, delivering unmatched utility.”
The H2 also comes with a race-winning pedigree that includes three production class wins at the infamous Baja 1000. The racing vehicles are based on regular-production H2s, with only regulatory safety equipment and other minor differences separating them from examples found in HUMMER dealerships.
Just like the racing vehicles, the 2009 production lineup – H2 SUV and H2 SUT – is powered by a 6.2L all-aluminum small-block V-8 engine. It is rated at 393 horsepower (293 kW)* and paired with a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission. Performance-optimizing engine technologies, such as variable valve timing, and the six-speed’s wide gear ratios, including a “tall” overdrive gear, optimize the powertrain’s efficiency.
New for ’09, the 6.2L engine is calibrated for FlexFuel capability, meaning it can run on E85 ethanol, gasoline or any combination of the two fuels.
New for 2009
The H2 and H2 SUT’s changes for 2009 increase the model line’s choices of amenities to enhance comfort and convenience. They complement a luxury-appointed interior that was redesigned for 2008. The new features include:
* Available second-row captains chairs that deliver a more personal and luxurious seating choice
* Third-row seat storage that frees up more storage space in the H2 SUV’s interior
* Heated steering wheel (interim availability)
* Power-tilting steering wheel (interim availability)
Additionally, several technology enhancements are added to the H2 lineup:
* Bluetooth phone connectivity
* OnStar Destination Download that sends driving directions directly to the navigation system
* XM Satellite Radio with NavTraffic real-time traffic advisement
* Rear vision “display on demand” on the inside rearview mirror for models not equipped with the navigation system – this replaces the previous “slide out” display (models with the navigation system feature rear vision displays on the navigation screen)
Black Chrome edition details
The Black Chrome limited edition model will be available later in the '09 model year. Only 1,300 will be offered worldwide. These special H2 SUV and SUT models are distinguished on the outside with black chrome details, including:
* Twenty-inch chrome-clad wheels
* Grille
* Hood latches and handles
* Fuel filler door
* Door handles
* Mirror caps
* “H2” badges
* Side air vents
* Spare tire cover emblem
* Body-color wheel flares, rocker moldings and hood louver
Three exterior colors are available with the Black Chrome edition: the new-for-2009 Silver Ice Metallic, Sedona Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic. Silver Ice Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic are offered with the Ebony/Shale interior combination, while the Sedona Metallic color is exclusive to the Black Chrome edition and is offered only with the Sedona interior.
Specific interior trim is included with the special model, as well as a heated and power-tilting steering wheel.
Luxury-appointed interior
Completely redesigned in ’08, the H2 lineup’s luxury-appointed interior features a detailed instrument panel, three seating rows, a rear climate control system, a rear-seat overhead DVD entertainment system and a family of premium radios.
The seats have a chiseled appearance and offer excellent comfort; front-seat safety belt pretensioners are standard. Complementing the new seats are upscale door trim panels and an instrument panel with a six-gauge instrument cluster. These features have a detailed, refined appearance with minimal gaps – often 1 mm or less. Soft-touch materials and tactile controls enhance the feeling of craftsmanship.
A prominent center stack houses the climate controls and radio, including a standard premium Bose audio system and an available surround sound system. XM Satellite Radio is standard and it is now available with NavTraffic, a real-time traffic advising feature.
The H2 also offers a standard remote starting system that enables the vehicle’s interior to be heated or cooled prior to driving.
Powertrain
The pulling power of the H2 comes from its 6.2L V-8 engine that uses variable valve timing technology to maximize performance and fuel efficiency. It is rated at 393 horsepower (293 kW)* and 415 lb.-ft. of torque (563 Nm)*. The engine also features lightweight materials, including an aluminum cylinder block. New for ’09, the 6.2L engine is calibrated to run on E85 ethanol.
A six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD electronically controlled automatic transmission backs the 6.2L engine. It has a wide, 6.04:1 overall ratio – including two overdrive gears – that helps deliver an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy. Also, the 6L80 has a “tap up/tap down” capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with buttons on the steering wheel. It provides an off-road crawl ratio of approximately 39:1.
A 3.73 axle ratio and features such as regulated voltage control that charges electrical components only when necessary help maximize the H2’s efficiency, while the powertrain enables a towing capacity of 8,200 pounds (3,727 kg).
Safety features
A robust safety system complements the H2 lineup's performance and comfort amenities, and includes several standard features:
* Roof rail head curtain side air bags for first-, second- and third-row passengers (if equipped) with rollover sensing system
* Safety belt pretensioners (first-row seats)
* Electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation technology
* New traction control system
* Tire pressure monitoring system
A panic brake assist feature (standard) detects emergency braking situations and maintains maximum brake pressure to help stop the vehicle more quickly and with more control.
The standard OnStar system offers the optional Turn-By-Turn navigation system. Additional optional features that contribute to a safer driving experience include HUMMER’s Rear Vision System – a rearview camera system – and a navigation system.
Chassis details
The H2’s foundation is a fully welded, ladder-type frame that features a modular, three-piece design incorporating a number of hydroformed components. This design delivers outstanding strength, stiffness and dimensional accuracy.
Short overhangs allow radical approach and departure angles, as well as exceptional ground clearance for minimal impact on trails. Standard 17-inch wheels, heavy-duty independent front suspension and a five-link rear suspension provide superior handling, carrying and towing capability.
A solid rear axle ensures durable sure-footedness, particularly in tight, off-road situations. Also standard is underbody protection and rocker protection. These elements help the H2 deliver on HUMMER’s mantra of capability, including traveling through streams 24 inches (508 mm) deep, climbing 16-inch (406-mm) steps and rocks and paddling through deep sand or snow.
The H2 features a four-channel anti-lock braking/traction control system (ABS/TCS) that provides optimum control on slippery surfaces. In addition, the ABS can detect and adjust its braking capabilities to rough off-road surfaces like gravel and potholes. The new traction system allows the driver to use a two-foot driving technique (one foot the brake, the other on the gas pedal), which is the best driving style for negotiating a steep, rocky trail. The TCS also includes the ability to gain traction through a single wheel.
A self-leveling rear air spring suspension system is available for extreme off-road and towing requirements.
H2 SUT – maximum utility and fun
Like the H2, the H2 SUT carries passengers and cargo, but does so with a twist: an open cargo bed enables convenient storage of larger items. When cargo requires more space, a 4-foot by 6-foot (122-cm by 244-cm) pickup bed can be created by powering the rear window into the Midgate, then folding forward the Midgate and rear seat. With four passengers on board, the bulkhead at the rear of the SUT’s passenger compartment remains upright, still providing ample cargo-carrying capacity.
Practicality aside, the H2 SUT also offers an open, invigorating driving experience. At the push of a single button, the driver can lower all four side windows and the rear window. Using a separate switch, the standard sunroof can also be opened, giving the SUT a truly open-air feeling.

2009 HUMMER H3, H3T and H3T Alpha

2009 HUMMER H3, H3T and H3T Alpha
HUMMER is bringing its unmistakable style and unmatched capability to the truck market with the 2009 H3T. It is based on the architecture of the popular H3, but features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate five-foot-long (1.5 meters) bed.
2009 HUMMER H3T: HUMMER's new midsize truck2009 HUMMER H3T: HUMMER's new midsize truck
2009 HUMMER H3, HUMMER H3 Alpha, HUMMER H3T & HUMMER H3T Alpha Highlights:
* Exclusive standard full-time four-wheel drive with 32-inch tires and skid plates
* Crew cab body style with seating for five
* Five-foot (1.5 meters) bed capable of carrying two dirt bikes, a snowmobile or ATV and full sheets of plywood
* Extensive portfolio of officially licensed accessories
* Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free phone operation (standard)
* Optional rearview camera system
* Front locker included in the Off-Road Adventure package
* Hill start assist
The H3T is bigger than a midsize truck and smaller than a full-size truck, creating its own niche in the market. It also is infused with the attributes expected of a HUMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable. The H3T is offered in five trim levels, including five-cylinder models and the popular, V-8-powered H3T Alpha edition.
“With its unique size and HUMMER traits, the H3T is ideal for the customer who works hard and plays harder,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. "It offers the combination of truck versatility and HUMMER off-road prowess that delivers customers to the trail in style.”
In addition to its segment-defying size, the H3T also stands apart from other trucks with its signature HUMMER off-road capability. It is the only midsize truck to come standard with full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and functional skid shields. It also is the only midsize truck to offer front and rear locking differentials, as well as 33-inch tires.
New for ’09
In addition to the H3T, the entire H3 lineup is updated for the 2009 model year with the following new features and revisions:
* Standard Bluetooth wireless capability for hands-free phone operation
* Front locking differential included with the Off-Road Adventure package
* Standard hill start assist
* Rearview camera system display on the inside rearview mirror revised to “display on demand” system, replacing the previous mirror slide-out display
H3 lineup at a glance
The H3 lineup includes the H3 and new H3T, with the V-8-powered Alpha series offered on both body styles (see the Alpha series section below). All models pack HUMMER’s trademark capability into a midsize package.
The H3 lineup also delivers exceptional rock crawling and climbing performance; it was engineered for off-road leadership among midsize SUVs. The heart of this capability is its electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system and suspension tuning tailored for off-road performance. In addition, the H3 features standard underbody shielding, brake traction control, and an optional 4.03:1 transfer case with front- and rear-locking differentials. The H3 and H3T are the first vehicles with independent front suspensions to be offered with a front-locking differential from the factory.
Among its off-road credentials, the H3 can ford 24-inch (610 mm) streams at a 5-mph pace, climb 16-inch (407 mm) vertical steps and rocks, make its way through deep sand and race easily over sandy surfaces.
H3’s more maneuverable size provides advantages, such as a 37-foot turning circle (SUV models) that is about the same as a typical compact car, making easy work of parking lot maneuvers during everyday use and tight turns when off-roading. High ground clearance and great breakover angles make it possible to clear large obstacles in off-road driving. Serious off-road performance is also aided by exceptional approach and departure angles that permit the H3 and H3T to drive into a hole and back out again, without getting hung up in the front or rear.
The H3 lineup – including the new H3T – is offered with two suspension packages:
* Z85 Heavy-Duty Handling and Trailering – This standard suspension delivers an excellent balance of on-highway comfort and off-road capability. It includes 32-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 16-inch wheels, specially tuned heavy-duty shocks and either a 4.56-ratio (3.7L) or 4.10-ratio (5.3L) rear axle.
* Off-Road Adventure – Designed for more aggressive off-road performance, this optional suspension package includes taller, 33-inch tires, specifically tuned shocks, cast iron front differential case, locking front and rear differentials, 4.03:1 low-range gearing in the transfer case and industry-leading crawl ratios of 69:1 with the 3.7L engine and manual transmission or 50.6:1 with the 5.3L engine.
H3X
A special appearance package that gives the H3 added distinction, the H3X features chrome accents and unique details, including:
* Bright roof crossbows
* Chrome fuel filler door, tubular assist steps and brush guard
* Body-color grille and spare tire cover with HUMMER logo
* Eighteen-inch chrome aluminum wheels with P265/65R18 all-terrain tires
* “H3”-embroidered seat headrests
The H3X package is partnered with the Z85 suspension and is available on the V-8 Alpha model.
H3T details
Like all HUMMER models, the H3T has a purposeful design. The crew cab body shares H3 styling and components from the B-pillar forward, while the rear section of the cab and the separate bed are unique to the H3T. The five-foot bed is similar in design and function to GM’s recently redesigned full-size trucks, including an easily removable tailgate and a standard cargo management accessory system. A full-size spare tire is mounted beneath the bed.
The bed is sized to carry a wide range of popular outdoor necessities, from hauling motocross bikes to Baja, a quad to camp, or backcountry gear to the trailhead. One of the industry’s largest portfolios of accessories complements the H3T’s bed, offering different cargo management options to suit all of those lifestyle interests.
The H3T’s crew cab interior offers seating for five adults, with a 60/40-split rear bench seat that folds flat for increased cargo-carrying options. The cabin’s layout is essentially identical to the H3 SUV, with premium materials and attention to detail that give the vehicle a functional yet refined aesthetic.
The H3T’s frame and suspension system are based on a stretched version of the H3 SUV’s chassis and suspension – the same race-proven design found on Baja 1000-winning stock-class race trucks. The wheelbase measures 134.2 inches (3,409 mm) – 22.3 inches (566 mm) longer than the H3 SUV.
A ladder-type frame is the truck’s foundation and it has a modular, three-piece design that incorporates fully boxed components for outstanding strength and stiffness. An independent SLA torsion bar front suspension and multi-leaf Hotchkiss-type rear suspension are used. Like the H3 SUV, the H3T is offered with the Z85 suspension or the Off-Road suspension in the Adventure package.
H3T accessories
One of the industry’s broadest portfolios of vehicle accessories has been developed for the H3T. Centered on active lifestyles, items such as removable and lockable bed-mounted storage boxes; an adjustable bike chock that can be used to help secure mountain bikes or motorcycles; and a bed extender make full use of the standard bed-rail cargo management system. A range of additional accessories that improves off-road capabilities, provides passenger entertainment and enhances exterior styling is also available. There are more than 75 HUMMER Genuine Accessories offered.
In addition to the factory-developed accessory portfolio, HUMMER has partnered with top automotive aftermarket companies to develop more than 50 Officially Licensed HUMMER Accessories – a first for the brand. A variety of exterior enhancements, such as a Slant Back Bed Cover, hard tonneau covers and a winch are offered, along with cargo management solutions such as the BedSlide and bed divider, offering countless possibilities to personalize the H3T.
Alpha series
Offering the towing capability that only a V-8 can, the H3 and H3T Alpha models broaden HUMMER’s range of versatile, do-anything and go-anywhere vehicles. They represent the pinnacle of performance, both off the road and on it. The power behind the performance is derived from a 5.3L V-8 engine that delivers 300 horsepower (224 kW)* and 320 lb.-ft. of torque (434 Nm)*. It is partnered with a four-speed automatic transmission and enables a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 pounds (2,721 kg) with the H3 and 5,900 pounds (2,676 kg) with the H3T. A 4.10 axle is standard.
The Alpha series can be had with cloth (H3T only) or leather (H3 and H3T) interior trim, including a horn pad badge and embroidered seat headrests. Bluetooth connectivity is included on Alpha models. Leather-trimmed models also include uplevel carpeted floor mats; heated/power-adjustable seats; leather-wrapped steering wheel; lighted vanity mirror; home remote and polished 16-inch wheels. The polished wheels, power-adjustable seat, home remote and lighted vanity mirror are available on cloth-equipped models.
For customers who want a more accessorized appearance straight from the factory, the H3 Alpha model can be combined with the H3X content, which includes bright roof crossbars, chrome fuel door, a body-color grille and unique spare tire cover, tires, wheels and center cap, and a brush guard. Additionally, HUMMER Accessories offers an exclusive line of GM-designed, manufactured and validated accessories that are engineered and tested for no-compromises fit, finish and performance.
H3 and H3T powertrains
Standard in the H3 and H3T is the Vortec 3.7L I-5 with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. This inline five-cylinder engine offers an excellent combination of power and efficiency, delivering 239 horsepower (178 kW) at 5600 rpm* and 241 lb.-ft. of torque ( 327 Nm) at 4600 rpm. It is backed by a five-speed manual transmission or an available four-speed, electronically controlled automatic.
The Alpha series’ 5.3L engine is a powerful and efficient member of GM’s legendary small-block V-8 family. It is rated at 300 horsepower (224 kW)* and 320 lb.-ft. of torque (434 Nm).* An aluminum cylinder block is used with the H3 Alpha’s engine. It helps reduce overall mass and maintains a more desirable front-to-rear weight balance.
To support the torque output of the 5.3L V-8, the Alpha’s front differential case is made of cast iron. V-8-powered vehicles also receive higher torsion bar rates to support the increased mass and specific shock valving.
A Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission is paired with the 5.3L engine. Flat towing is enabled on all H3 and H3T models.
The H3 and H3T are sold around the globe, with production of the H3 and H3T in the United States and the H3 in South Africa.
Safety features
Standard safety features include head curtain side-impact air bags, as well as the following:
* StabiliTrak electronic stability control system
* Four-wheel anti-lock brakes with traction control
* Dual-stage frontal air bags with passenger sensing system
* Tire pressure monitoring system
* LATCH rear child seat anchors
HUMMER’s rearview camera system and a navigation system are available. The rearview camera system uses a camera mounted on the rear bumper to provide a view of objects directly behind the vehicle. A new “picture-in-picture” display provides a more integrated viewing screen for the system.
Also, the safety and security of OnStar is standard, and its Turn-By-Turn Navigation feature is available.

The Outlander GT receives a revised 3.0-liter V6 engine, teamed with a six-speed sportronic® automatic transmission.
2010 Mitsubishi Outlander2010 Mitsubishi Outlander
Powered by an updated MIVEC-equipped V6 engine, the Outlander GT offers greater power without sacrificing fuel economy. By improving the intake efficiency and raising the compression ratio, Mitsubishi engineers have managed to push output to 230 hp @ 6,250 RPM and 215 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 3,750 RPM. The increased engine efficiency has also allowed the Outlander GT to reduce its carbon footprint and CO2 emissions.
2010 Mitsubishi Outlander2010 Mitsubishi Outlander
Complementing the refined power is the advanced driver control provided by Hill Start Assist and S-AWC. The S-AWC system utilizes a first-in-class Active Front Differential (AFD) and an electronically controlled center differential system, which distributes driving force intelligently from front to rear and left to right to the front wheels. The driver is able to use a “Tarmac, Snow, or Lock” selector knob to switch between modes, providing full-time traction during any weather situation.

The sportronic® automatic transmission’s six gears are also manually selectable with steering column mounted magnesium alloy paddle shifters. The transmission in the Outlander GT also provides increased fuel economy with the addition of Idle Neutral Logic (INL). By automatically selecting neutral whenever the Outlander GT comes to a stop, fuel consumption is reduced.
The Outlander GT now wears a distinctive jet fighter front grille, which evokes the sporty history of Mitsubishi’s family line-up. Backing up those looks is the addition of an all-new Lancer Evolution-inspired lightweight aluminum roof, which helps lower the center of gravity. The blacked out front bumper cover design is also similar to what is found on the Lancer Evolution model. Accenting the new face are the redesigned side sills, rear bumper, mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels. A unique flap fold tailgate design allows easy access to the rear storage area for loading and unloading. Bi-xenon HID headlamps with daytime running lights are also now standard.

New for the 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe
Black Painted Roof
For 2011, the Mitsubishi Eclipse reveals its dark side. All Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe models - the base GS, the mid-grade GS Sport and the plush GT - now feature a very eye-catching greenhouse painted in black that is sandwiched between body-colored sheetmetal that stretches from the sweeping A- to C-pillars. This exciting new design element is not only aesthetically pleasing but pays tribute to the highly-successful original first-generation Eclipse Coupe that possessed a similarly dark-colored dome.

Ride Height Reduction
The 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe now sports a ride height that has been lowered by over half an inch (15 mm), giving this remarkable sports car a sharper-looking, lower-profile stance. This reduced vehicle ride height has the additional benefit of slightly decreasing the car's aerodynamic drag, which helps to improve the Eclipse Coupe's overall fuel economy.

12V Accessory Outlet
A handy new feature on the 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe model lineup is the addition of a 12V accessory power outlet. Ideally situated in the center console, it allows for the convenient powering/recharging and access to popular portable electronic devices including an iPod® or a GPS navigation system.
Expanded No-Cost Luxury Amenities for the 2011 Eclipse Coupe GS Sport
The mid-level 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Sport benefits from a richly expanded standard equipment package that receives numerous luxury upgrades with no additional increase to the car's MSRP. This improved package includes leather seating surfaces, heated front seats and side view mirrors, power driver seat, aluminum pedals, a strut tower brace, aluminum entrance sill and a tidy-looking clear lip spoiler.

Curvaceous Coupe Design
There's no doubt the current generation Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe has earned a solid reputation as a dynamic sports machine with a luxurious "attainable exotic" flair, but it is the car's utterly unique styling that truly sets it apart from its competition.
The Eclipse's very distinctive, curvaceous design theme is demonstrated most prominently in the car's boldly arcing roofline and the flared fenders at all four corners of the vehicle. The car's shapely rear end also exhibits a similarly pronounced, rounded flavor.
At the front, the blacked-out upper and lower grille sections that are bisected by an equally dark-colored front bumper insert look tall and imposing and give the 2011 Eclipse Coupe an aggressive, somewhat similar front fascia design to the signature smile of the company's ultra-high-performance Lancer Evolution sports sedan and the dynamic, all-new Outlander Sport compact crossover utility vehicle (CUV).

Eclipse Powertrains: Capable and Efficient
Befitting the 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe's snazzy styling and sporty handling are two distinct available engines.
Powering both the Eclipse GS and the Eclipse GS Sport is a capable 2.4-liter SOHC 16-valve normally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine that makes use of Mitsubishi Intelligent Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) for maximum power production, fuel economy and reduced exhaust emissions. Utilizing a cast-iron engine block and an aluminum cylinder head, this engine creates 162 hp at 6,000 rpm and 162 lb.-ft. of torque at an even 4,000 rpm; redline occurs at 6,500 rpm. The base model Eclipse GS features two available transmissions - a crisp-shifting 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic transmission - the mid-grade Eclipse GS Sport is equipped with the 4-speed automatic transmission.

Eager and smooth-revving, this 2.4-liter four-cylinder powerplant gets the job done in fun and efficient fashion with a highway fuel economy rating of 28 mpg.
The premium Eclipse GT model, however, is an even better fit with Mitsubishi's signature sports coupe as its included V-6 engine produces more than 100 horsepower more than the 4-cylinder unit - an excellent complement to the Eclipse's well tuned chassis and vibrant steering feel. Producing a stout 265 bhp at 5,750 rpm and a full 262 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,500 rpm, the 3.8-liter SOHC 24-valve MIVEC-equipped 6-cylinder engine takes the fun-to-drive 2011 Eclipse Coupe to a whole new level of performance. Like its 4-cylinder cousin, this powerplant features a cast iron block and aluminum cylinder heads, but the Eclipse GT comes standard with an exotic transmission not available with the other models: a 5-speed Sportronic® automatic transmission that allows the driver to manually shift gears via the gearshift lever when so desired. Along with this Sportronic® automatic transmission, a lowered, more aggressively-tuned sports suspension makes the Eclipse GT for choice for the sporting enthusiast that truly enjoys driving.

New for the 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
Vastly Expanded No-Cost Luxury Features (GS Sport)
For the 2011 model year, the entry-level Eclipse Spyder GS Sport adds a plethora of high-end luxury amenities to its already heavily-appointed standard equipment package. Among the new additions are leather seating surfaces; heated front seats and side view mirrors; power driver's seat; very attractive 18-in. alloy wheels; high intensity discharge (HID) headlights; and aluminum pedals and entrance sills. Many automobile manufacturers charge consumers
thousands of dollars extra for such upmarket accessories, but the 2011 Eclipse Spyder GS Sport includes them free of charge.

Lowered Ride Height
Both the 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS Sport and GT models now feature a ride height that has been lowered by 0.6 in. (15 mm). This not only infuses the handsome and sporty 2+2 convertible with a more aggressive look but also improves the car's aerodynamics.
12V Accessory Outlet
A convenient new included on every 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder is the addition of a 12V accessory power outlet. Located on the center console, it provides an ideal location for accessing and/or conveniently powering/recharging popular portable electronic devices including an iPod® or a GPS navigation system.
Along Came a Spyder
Many convertible cars in the sub-$30,000 price category skimp on design details when it comes to materials associated with their soft tops in the name of cost-cutting, but this is certainly not the case with the 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse SpyderPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
From the get go, Mitsubishi engineers designed the Eclipse platform for both enclosed coupe and open-top convertible configurations, so the top-down version includes all of the essential chassis reinforcements to maintain the vehicle's structural integrity - the Spyder feels just as solid as the coupe when out on the open road.
With the top up, the cabin remains surprisingly quiet, thanks to a high-quality, multi-layer cloth top (not cheap vinyl like some class competitor's convertible tops) with a headliner that looks identical to that found in the closed-top coupe.
The Eclipse Spyder's power top folds quickly and completely out of view beneath a flush-fitting, hard shell tonneau cover in only about 19 seconds. The top's rear window is composed of glass and features a defroster - no flimsy plastic window here. And while wind buffeting is minimal in the Eclipse Spyder GS Sport, it is reduced even further in the top-of-the-line Eclipse Spyder GT, thanks to an included removable wind deflector.

Choice of Fuel-Saving 4-cylinder or Vastly More Powerful V-6 Engines
Every 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS Sport is equipped with a normally-aspirated 2.4-liter (2378 cc) SOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine that features a sturdy cast iron block and a lightweight aluminum cylinder head. With a bore and stroke of 3.43 x 3.94 in. (87.0 x 100.0 mm) and a compression ratio of 9.5:1, this engine produces its maximum power output of 162 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and its peak torque of 162 lb.-ft. at a much lower 4,000 rpm. Additional cost savings to the consumer is achieved thanks to this engine's ability to run on regular unleaded gasoline.
To make the most of the fun handling capabilities of this top-down sports car, all of the top-tier 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT models are powered by an engine that produces more than 100 horsepower over that of the 4-cylinder powerplant in the Eclipse Spyder GS Sport. The potent engine propelling the GT is a rev-happy, normally-aspirated 3.8-liter (3828 cc) SOHC 24-valve V-6 engine that, like the 4-cylinder unit, is composed of a high-strength cast iron block topped off by aluminum-alloy cylinder heads. With a higher compression ratio than the 4-cylinder engine and a bore and stroke measuring 3.74 x 3.54 in. (95.0 x 90.0 mm), this highly-capable V-6 is a joy to put through its paces with a full 265 horsepower on tap at 5,750 rpm and 262 lb.-ft. of torque produced at 4,500 rpm.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse SpyderPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
To achieve optimal power, low emissions and maximize fuel efficiency, both the I-4 and V-6 engines include Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) variable valve-timing system. Each engine's rpm redline threshold is reached at 6,500 on the tachometer.
Matching the sumptuous ride offered by the Eclipse Spyder's rock-solid chassis and smooth-operating engines are a pair of automatic transmissions more than up to the task. The 4-cylinder-powered Eclipse GS Sport features an effortlessly-shifting 4-speed automatic transmission while the Eclipse GT adds an additional cog to its 5-speed automatic gearbox. Both units feature Mitsubishi's Sportronic® transmission technology that allows the driver to make quick manual gear changes by pushing forward or pulling back on the gearshift lever.
Opulently Loaded Standard Equipment Package
If the 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder's deluxe open air driving experience isn't enough to satiate its owner's desire for an upscale ride, then perhaps the car's very long list of included lavish features and appointments will do the trick.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse SpyderPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
Along with very comfortable front seats that pamper the body, cool ice-blue LED illumination of the instruments and controls and a stylish interior design, other luxury touches inside the Eclipse Spyder include a sweet-sounding 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate® 6-CD/MP3 audio system with 9 speakers (including an 8-in. subwoofer) and steering wheel-mounted controls, speed compensated volume control, auxiliary audio input jack and a 3-month pre-paid subscription to SIRIUS® satellite radio; Bluetooth® hands-free phone system; rearview backup camera; 6-way power driver's seat; heated front seats and side view mirrors; leather seating surfaces; aluminum pedals and entrance sill; air conditioning; cruise control; remote keyless entry; and power windows, mirrors and door locks.
Other included upscale details are high intensity discharge (HID) headlights; machine-finish 18-in. alloy wheels; dual exhaust outlets with exhaust finishers; clear and chrome LED tail lights; sharp-looking blacked-out upper and lower grille sections; and automatic headlamp shutoff.

A Safe Spyder
Every 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder includes numerous ingenious safety design features and technologies incorporated into this convertible 2+2. Among these are an advanced dual front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) including dual action inflator with crash zone and seat position and occupant sensors; both head and thorax side air bags; energy-absorbing front and rear crumple zones and side impact door protection. Advanced electronic driver aids that help the driver to control the vehicle in adverse traction situations include anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD); Active Stability Control (ASC) and Traction Control Logic (TCL). A Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that can alert the driver should a tire's air pressure fall below a safe level is also included at no charge.

Spacious and Stately
The 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor mid-size crossover is an excellent combination of roomy versatility and capability with an impressive amount of welcome niceties.
Capable of carrying up to five people, all occupants will find the Endeavor's comfortable and spacious seats, crisp handling and quiet cabin to be welcome relief from the cramped and/or noisy confines of some of the similarly-sized sport utility vehicle (SUV) competitors of this well-engineered Mitsubishi crossover that don't possess its solid unibody construction and confident handling capabilities.
Whether carrying groceries, a full complement of camping gear for a weekend in the woods or picking up several sheets of four-foot-wide plywood, the 2011 Endeavor can easily accommodate it all, thanks to hand its 60/40 split/fold-flat rear seat backs and a full 76.4 cu. ft. of cargo capacity (a plentiful 40.7 cu. ft. is available in the rear cargo section with the rear seat backs in the up position).

Refined and Able V-6 Engine
With its polished performance and proficient power, it's no wonder that Mitsubishi's engineers elected to use a single engine across the Endeavor line.
The 3.8-liter SOHC 24-valve V-6 that powers the 2011 Endeavor provides plenty of power to this stylish crossover vehicle with virtually no vibration, harshness or noise detected within the nicely-appointed cabin. Consisting of an extremely strong cast-iron engine block with light weight aluminum cylinder heads and featuring a compression ratio of 10.0:1, this 3,828 cc normally-aspirated powerplant produces a welcome 225 hp at 5,000 rpm and an even more generous 255 lb.-ft. of torque at a lower 3,750 rpm from its sublimely smooth operating six cylinders. Running on unleaded fuel, this engine has been granted the very clean Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) status for all 50 states. This engine's bore and stroke measure 3.74 x 3.54 in. (95.0 x 90.0 mm).
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor SEPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor SE
All the 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor engines have been paired with an equally quiet and silky 4-speed Sportronic® automatic transmission with INVECS-II technology that allows the driver to manually make gear changes with the gearshift lever when so desired. The FWD Endeavor LS and SE, along with the all-wheel drive version of the SE, engage identical gear ratios within their transmissions, save for the final drive ratios (the front wheel drive Endeavor has a final drive of 4.011 to the all-wheel drive model's 4.316).
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor SEPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor SE
Ready and Willing Chassis - On- or Off-Road
The Endeavor is equally at home on smooth ribbons of pristine asphalt on the way to the office as it is tackling a rough-and-tumble dirt road when venturing off the beaten path. A great deal of this on- or off-road driving aplomb is no doubt due to this crossover's excellent, well-damped suspension design that features independent MacPherson struts with coil springs up front (including gas charge strut inserts) along with a coil spring independent multi-link with trailing arms suspension design and gas charged shocks at the rear of the vehicle. Further aiding the vehicle's fine handling at speed on freeways or city streets are front and rear stabilizer bars that help diminish body roll that measure 24.0 mm thick at the front and 20.0 mm at the rear (an even thicker 22 mm anti-roll bar for the all-wheel drive Endeavor SE).
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor SEPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor SE
For even better handling and tractability in off-road driving, consumers would be wise to opt for the top-of-the-line Endeavor SE model with all-wheel drive. Its AWD system can provide an even 50:50 torque split between the front and rear wheels, thanks to a transfer case with a center differential that has a viscous coupling. In good weather or bad, on road or off, this all-wheel drive system vastly improves overall grip when compared to the levels of traction offered by a front-wheel drive vehicle.
5-Star Crash Test Safety Rating
The Mitsubishi Endeavor has achieved the highest test score of a 5-Star rating for both frontal (driver) and side impact (front and rear seat) crash tests performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Additionally, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the Endeavor its highest-ranking - "Good" overall - in the organization's frontal offset crash test.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor SEPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor SE
These well-earned scores from respected automotive safety agencies are the result of the company's commitment to engineering excellence as witnessed by Mitsubishi's patented Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) safety automotive body construction system that helps to minimize injury to its vehicle's occupants as well as its inclusion of advanced safety features and technologies as standard equipment on the Endeavor. These include an advanced dual front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with occupant sensors; front seat-mounted side-impact air bags and rollover-sensing side curtain air bags; an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD); Active Stability Control (ASC) and Traction Control Logic (TCL); and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

2011 Mitsubishi Galant Review - Official photos, features, specs, pricing
The 2011 Mitsubishi Galant luxury sports sedan enters the new model year with one of the best standard luxury equipment packages for its price point of any mid-size 4-door vehicle available in the marketplace today. Add the car's distinctive styling, terrific fuel efficiency and excellent ergonomics into the mix and the amenity-packed, fun-to-drive Galant becomes a consideration for the car-shopping consumer unlike any other.

The mid-size Galant sedan - available in a base ES model and the more upscale, bargain-priced SE version - joins the versatile Endeavor crossover SUV and Mitsubishi's firebrand Eclipse Coupe/Eclipse Spyder sports machines as vehicles that are manufactured at the company's factory in Normal, Illinois, an assembly plant that will celebrate its 23rd anniversary of producing high-quality vehicles in 2011.

New for the 2011 Mitsubishi Galant
Ride Height Reduction
A new design feature for the 2011 Mitsubishi Galant is a reduction in the vehicle's ride height by half an inch. Not only does this imbue the handsome Galant 4-door with an even sleeker-looking stance, but it also improves the car's aerodynamic efficiency, thus leading to a slight increase in fuel economy.
Chrome Beltline Molding
Another rich-looking aesthetic enhancement to the 2011 Mitsubishi Galant sports sedan is the addition of stylish new chrome beltline molding for a more upscale appearance.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi GalantPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Galant
Expanded Standard Luxury Amenities for the 2011 Galant SE
The top-of-the-line 2011 Mitsubishi Galant SE - already packed with a tremendous amount of no-cost, high-end features - gains even more luxury appointments for the new model year. These include a power glass sunroof, HomeLink® automatic garage door integration, electrochromic interior rearview mirror and illuminated visor vanity mirrors.
Sassy Styling, Both Inside and Out
With its crisp, neatly folded exterior sheetmetal and pleasing proportions, the handsome 2011 Mitsubishi Galant mid-size luxury sports sedan certainly stands apart from other vehicles in its class.
Notable in its good-looking design is its prominent front fascia which features a very bold-looking silver painted mesh grille. Squared-off headlights that contain a smaller pair of lamps stacked one on top of the other at the outer edges are also a styling tour de force. The prominent creases along the hood give the design a brawny look. Without question, the front end styling of this sedan is truly unlike any other.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi GalantPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Galant
Viewed in profile, the Galant's gently curving greenhouse is a wonderful contrast to the rest of the car's straight-edged design aesthetic.
A futuristic-looking yet elegant "cat's eye" taillight design and a sporty trunk lid-mounted lip spoiler (the latter element included on the Galant SE with Leather package) can't help but please the discerning eye.
Front and center inside the Galant's warm-looking interior is the tall center console waterfall that is done up in a handsome silver finish, its controls a thoughtful blend of knobs and buttons that never overwhelm the senses both visually and in functionality. Perched atop the center stack in the Galant SE is a very intuitive, 7-in. touch-screen DVD-based navigation system; a convenient rear backup camera system is also included. A chrome shift lever gate and thin strips of silver-colored trim that line the gauge faces and lay horizontally across the dashboard top off a rich-looking interior design deserving of a vehicle that should cost thousands of dollars more than the Galant's very attainable price point.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi GalantPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Galant
Fuel-Efficient 2.4-Liter Engine
All 2011 Mitsubishi Galant models are powered by a venerable 2.4-liter, 16-valve SOHC inline-4-cylinder engine that features Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) for improved power production, fuel economy and lower emissions. This engine produces 160 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 157 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. A variation of this powerplant that has been certified as a Partial Zero-Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) is available for sale in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont and produces slightly less horsepower with a rating of 155 bhp. A 4-speed Sportronic® automatic transmission that gives the driver the option of manually shifting gears when desired is standard equipment.
This quiet and efficient powertrain not only produces outstanding fuel economy with a highway rating of 30 mpg but also saves its owner additional money at the pump as this engine runs on regular-grade unleaded fuel.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi GalantPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Galant
Chassis: Smooth Operator
Thanks to the Galant's rigid chassis and ideally-placed sound insulation, occupants are treated to a hushed ride from a well-engineered platform that keeps sound intrusion to a minimum. Thoughtful design can also be found in the car's independent suspension - a MacPherson strut configuration with coil springs that reside in a sub-frame up front and a low-mount multi-link setup in the rear of the vehicle - allowing for supple suspension damping that soaks up road irregularities with aplomb along with providing responsive handling.
In keeping with the "more vehicle for the money" theme of the 2011 Mitsubishi Galant luxury sport sedan, this stylish 4-door is equipped with numerous state-of-the-art safety features and technologies to help protect the driver and all occupants including dual-stage front air bags, front seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and side front and rear curtain airbags, along with anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control Logic (TCL) and Active Stability Control (ASC) that help keep the driver in control even in poor road conditions. A Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is also included at no additional cost to the consumer.

Drivetrains: From 4-Cylinder Efficiency to Turbocharged Excitement
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer RalliartPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
A multifaceted mix of exceptionally well-engineered drivetrains are available across the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer model spectrum.
Setting the Lancer DE and ES variants in motion is an excellent 4-cylinder normally-aspirated engine that provides spirited performance (this 4B11 engine serves as the foundation of the legendary Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution ultra-high-performance sports sedan) and fuel efficiency. With a displacement of 2.0-liters (1998 cc), the bore and stroke of this engine measure an equal 3.4 x 3.4 in. (86.0 x 86.0 mm), making it a "square" design. Both the engine block and cylinder head are composed entirely of aluminum alloy for exceptional strength with reduced mass when compared to cast iron. With a compression ratio of 10:1, this DOHC MIVEC 16-valve engine produces a lively 152 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 146 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm. The engines found under the hood of Lancer DE and ES vehicles sold in the state of California have received the very eco-friendly Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) rating, coming with just a slight sacrifice in horsepower at 143 bhp (the torque rating of this PZEV engine is only down by 3 lb.-ft. to 143).
Directing power to the Lancer DE's front wheels is a clean-shifting 5-speed manual transmission, while the Lancer ES benefits from a choice of either this 5-speed manual transmission as part of the standard equivalent package or consumers may choose to upgrade to a high-tech continuously variable transmission (CVT) with INVEC-III.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer RalliartPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
For those seeking more power there is the Lancer GTS model and its larger 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces an additional 20 bhp over the Lancer DE and ES models; its maximum power output is rated at 168 bhp at 6,000 rpm (161 horsepower for the PZEV-rated cars in California) and 167 lb.-ft. of torque (PZEV – 161 lb.-ft.). Like the previously mentioned Lancer models, the GTS is equipped as standard with Mitsubishi's refined 5-speed manual gearbox but also has an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT) with INVEC III that also has the added benefit of Mitsubishi's driver-oriented Sportronic® technology that allows the operator to shift gears via magnesium steering wheel paddle shifters.
But for all-out driving excitement, the smartest choice is the Lancer Ralliart and its dynamic turbocharged engine and lightning quick-shifting 6-speed automated manual gearbox.
Photo: 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer GTSPhoto: 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS
Based largely on the architectural underpinnings of the highly energetic turbocharged engine found in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, this 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled 4-cylinder engine produces a vigorous 237 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a tarmac-twisting 253 lb.-ft. of torque across a wide swath of the tachometer - from a lowly 2,500 rpm right through to 4,750 rpm. Feeding this power to all four wheels - the Lancer Ralliart features Mitsubishi's advanced full-time All-Wheel Control (AWC) system and this Japanese auto manufacturer's miraculous Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST). This revolutionary transmission allows the driver to have all the fun and engine control benefits of a manual transmission, but without the need for clutch pedal. By using two clutches and advanced hydraulics and electronic controls, this transmission can select two gears at a time and instantaneously swap one gear for another - making for instantaneous upshifts or downshifts. What's more, electronic engine controls “blip" the throttle to perfectly match engine speed and gear changes.

Chassis & Design: Sharing the Legendary Lancer Evolution's Dynamic DNA
Good looks aren't the only thing that the 2011 Lancer sports sedan shares with its legendary big brother, the world-renowned 4-door with supercar-like speed and maneuverability, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
True, both the Lancer and the Lancer Evolution possess distinctive wedge-shaped silhouettes and that unmistakable face with its aggressively stretched headlamps and prominent upper and lower grille sections. But this dynamic duo share so much more beneath the skin.

The exceptionally well-engineered and structurally-rigid platform that underpins both the Lancer and the Lancer Evolution can also be found in the equally stylish and award-winning Outlander crossover utility vehicle and the all-new 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport compact crossover utility vehicle. A MacPherson strut suspension design and an advanced multi-link rear suspension give all of the Lancer models excellent suspension compliance while also offering a high threshold of grip and maneuverability. Providing additional handling capability are the front and rear anti-sway bars of varying thicknesses that can be found across the entire Lancer model range, save for the base model Lancer DE which possesses a front stabilizer bar but none for the rear.

But the closest kissing cousin to that of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is the Lancer Ralliart. Not only does this model feature a highly potent turbocharged and intercooled engine similar to that found under the lightweight aluminum hood of the Lancer Evolution (in this case detuned from the Evolution's 291 horsepower to a still very respectable 237 bhp) but the Ralliart also includes many of the high-tech dynamic driving aids that make the Lancer Evolution so special. These include Mitsubishi's miraculously fast-shifting 6-speed automated manual Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) and the road-biting level of grip offered by the full-time All-Wheel Control (AWC) system that includes an Active Center Differential (ACD) and a front helical limited slip-differential, accompanied by a rear limited-slip differential.

All 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer vehicles overflow with an abundance of the latest in state-of-the-art safety technologies included as standard equipment. These include advanced dual-stage front air bags with occupant seat position sensors; side-impact head protection curtain air bags for the front and rear occupants; front seat-mounted side air bags; a driver's side knee air bag; anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD); Active Stability Control (ASC) and Traction Control Logic (TCL); an active front seat structure to help reduce whiplash injuries; a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS); and Mitsubishi's patented Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) chassis technology that helps to protect the vehicle's occupants by dissipating energy through the use of crumple zones and high-tensile steel throughout the chassis.

Included as standard on the Lancer Sportback Ralliart model is Mitsubishi's Hill Start Assist (HSA) technology that, when the vehicle is descending a grade or ascending a slope, will hold the car in a stationary position for several seconds after the driver has removed their foot from the brake pedal until they can engage the gas pedal.
